Finding a Support Coordinator is absolutely essential for the identification and procurement of services post-age 21. Typically SC’s are employed by third-party providers such as Neighbors Inc. and Shift Ridgewood, and they receive their training through the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities. Individuals on the Spectrum and their families have limited leeway in selecting the SC’s, and their leeway is further impacted by the year in which they aged out of the pre-21 Special Education Entitlement.
